The air waybill is the transport document used in air freight. It records the shipper, the consignee and the cargo, is evidence of the contract of carriage, and the shipment is tracked by its number. Unlike an ocean bill of lading, it is not a document of title.

How is the price of air freight calculated?

The price is based on whichever is greater: the actual weight of the cargo or its volumetric weight, calculated from its dimensions. For light but bulky cargo, smaller packaging can therefore lower the cost.
